Configure Ports - Overlap Protection

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Configuring ports should be the first step of setting up your site.

Port Settings – Overlap Protection

Laguna allows multiple ports to open simultaneously. If the system has a Base Radio and at least one repeater, there is potential for radio interference if both devices transmit at the same time. Overlap Protection must be activated.

From Laguna desktop, click on the Setup drop-down.

Select Port Settings.

PortSetting

On the Port Settings pop-up, locate the Overlap Protection (Serialize Polling) setting near the bottom.

Check the box next to Overlap Protection to activate.

Click OK - the pop-up will close

Essential Information

When setting up the remainder of the site's devices, i.e. controllers, radios and weather stations, the port and communications types will be required. Depending on your configuration, you may need some or all of the following information:

Communication type

Physical ports being used on the computer

Phone numbers, if using phone modems

IP addresses of controllers and Ethernet base radio repeaters if using Ethernet, Wi-Fi or Cloud Connected.

Each controller, weather station or repeater's name

Each controller, weather station or repeater's location so that it can be plotted on the map

Each controller's submaster and satellite address

TCP Port Settings

For Ethernet communications, the port number defaults to 10001. Your organization's firewall rules must open this port, if however, this port number cannot be used, click on the Advanced button and enter another suitable value.
