Set Flow Meter Size(s)
1.From Laguna desktop, navigate to the Setup drop-down
2.Select Controller
3.On Controller Setup desktop, select target controller
4.(optional) Click on GET SETUP to find current settings
5.Determine which Flow Meter input is being used at the controller and check the box to activate (Flow Meter 1, Flow Meter 2 or Flow Meter 3 (DX3 only))
6.From the drop-down box, select the correct flow meter.
7.The K and Offset values will be automatically populated
Note: If your flow sensor is not listed, contact Rain Master Tech Support for custom K and Offset values. These values can be saved for future use,
Set Main Line Flow Limit
This setting will instruct the controller to alarm if the total flow observed during an automatic or manual event exceeds the capacity of the system to deliver adequate pressure. Recommend basing this setting on the POC size, pump or mainline size.
Set Unscheduled Flow Limit
This setting will instruct the controller to alarm if flow is observed while there aren’t any manual or automatic cycles running (any activity started by the controller). Recommend setting to “0”, but can be set higher to accommodate manual functions, hose/QCV use or flow that can’t be regulated.
Set Flow Check Delay
This setting instructs the controller to wait for a period of time before actively checking flow against limits. Primarily used to allow mainline and lateral lines to fill and flow to settle at the start of a cycle. Recommend setting to 2 minutes.
Activate Upper and Lower Limits
1.From Laguna desktop, navigate to the Setup drop-down
2.Select Controller
3.On Controller Setup desktop, select target controller
4.(optional) Click on GET SETUP to find current settings
5.Check the box on both Enable Maximum and Enable Minimum
6.Click on SAVE AND SEND
•Click SAVE AND SEND to send values to the controller.
Learn Accurate Field Values Now
From Laguna desktop:
1.navigate to the Controller drop-down
2.Select Flow Limits
3.On the Flow Limits desktop, select target controller
4.Click on RETRIEVE LIMITS to determine if the controller has any learned values
5.To establish new “Nominal” values, click on LEARN NOMINALS. This will establish communication to the controller and sequentially turn on each station for the length of time set for “Flow Check Delay” plus approximately 1 minute. Laguna will disconnect from the controller during the process. Flow values must be retrieved from the controller (see below)
OPTION – Schedule Learn Nominal for a future time or date
1.Follow steps 1 through 4 above.
2.At the Establish Nominals section, check the box to activate Schedule Learn Nominal.
3.Set a date and time appropriate for learning flow
Retrieve Nominal values from Controllers
Laguna will not automatically retrieve the learned values from the controllers.
1.From Laguna desktop, navigate to the Controller drop-down
2.Select Flow Limits
3.On the Flow Limits desktop, select target controller
4.Click on RETRIEVE LIMITS to determine if the controller has any learned values
Set Realistic Upper and Lower Limits
1.When the Learn process is finished and nominal values have been retrieved from the controller, highlight all active stations using Microsoft commands (Shift/Ctrl + click)
2.Adjust the Minimum Limit using Min % Adjust – recommend 50% on minimum.
3.Adjust the Maximum Limit using Max % Adjust – recommend 20% on maximum for small flow zones, but recommend 5% to 10% on large flow zones with nominal values above approximately 50gpm.
4.Click on SAVE ALL
5.Click on SEND ALL LIMITS to transfer limits back to field and activate monitoring
Notes:
1.Sites with FlowMax groups (multiple DX2 controllers on a single POC) must go through a manual learn process that includes “all controllers”. On DX2, this can be initiated through the Blue Panel manual function.
2.Any field electrical issues must be resolved before the Learn Nominal Flow process is started. A station that causes a Maximum Current Limit or Minimum Current Limit alarm will stop the Learn Nominal Flow process.
