VLANs: Do the controllers have a problems communicating across VLANs? If so, the controllers could be issued IP addresses on the default VLAN.
There are no device specific issues that prevent our Ethernet devices from operation on a VLAN. However, IP addresses are pre-configured for each device based on information provided to Rain Master. The host controllers or network routers must be configured to permit traffic for the specified device IP address.
Port speed settings: Does the controller require 100 Mb/s. or other forced communication speed? If so the port speed can be forced instead of left on “Auto”.
The port speed for the network devices are 100 Mb. Therefore, the network should be set to full 100 Mb/s; do not us auto.
Port duplex settings: Does the controller require ½-duplex communication or other forced communication pattern? If so, the duplex settings can be forced as well.
The Ethernet devices require two-way communication, so all port for these devices must be Full Duplex.
Port security settings: Does the controller require certain ports to be open inbound or outbound? If so, there may be an adjustment required in the site’s access list.
The Port setting for the specified IP device address must be opened as “bidirectional”.
Additional notes:
•All controller Ethernet devices are set with a static IP, Gateway and Subnet Mask.
•The Ethernet device TCP Keep-Alive period is 45 seconds.
•The Ethernet device support Telnet connection to port 9999
